Oumou Sangaré Headlines Rite of Spring Festival

The second annual Rite of Spring music festival - focusing on cutting edge Folk, Jazz and World Music - will take place in Reykjavík, May 17-19. This year's headliner will be the Malian singer, Oumou Sangaré, also known as the "The Songbird of Wassoulou" along with Goran Bregovic, and his Wedding and Funeral Band. Also returning to the festival will be the Scottish band Salsa Celtica, with their interesting mix of salsa music, Cuban charanga beats and Celtic groove. Salsa Celtica was a bit hit at last year's Rite of Spring. Among Icelandic performers will be Tómas R. Einarsson and Samúel J. Samúelsson's Big Band. www.riteofspring.is
