City Council to Enforce Equal Rights

Reykjavík City Council has voted to pass a measure introduced by Leftist-Green councilpersons Svandís Svavarsdóttir and Árni Þór Sigurðsson which would help better ensure that gender equality is established in workplaces run by the city. The measure would give the Human Rights Committee the power to make transparent such detailes as the number of men and women serving on city committees, and their salaries. Details of the measure are expected to be finalised by the end of this year. - pfn
