Eight Lithuanians are currently in the Icelandic prison of Litla Hraun. Reykjavík Chief of Police, Hördur Jóhannesson says that it would appear that an organisation in Lithuania provides mules and sells the drugs that are smuggled into Iceland. "In some cases it proves very difficult to find suspects as these people cover their tracks well." Three Lithuanians were also arrested trying to import amphetamine-base and sulphuric acid used to make amphetamine. Jóhannesson adds that police are investigating the possible production of amphetamine in Iceland.
