Sushi Hop

Where can you find good sushi in Reykjavik? Here's ReykjavikMag's guide to three of the best.

Maru. A stylish and atmospheric Japanese-slash-Asian restaurant in the old heart of town. Serves excellent sushi, sashimi, miso soup, noodles, yakitori as well as Thai curries - for some obscure reason. Fair selection of sake and Japanese beer. Definitely an atmospheric place to enjoy the freshest of fish, although the service is definitely very, very slow. Take-away service available.

Aðalstræti 12, 101 Reykjavík

Sushismiðjan. Opened in May at the old harbour area, this sushi "factory" is a small family-run business where you can grab sushi to take-away. Also serves cold Japanese noodles, salads and a satisfying fish chowder. Good for grabbing sushi on a bright summer day when you can sit by the harbour to take in the sights.

Geirsgata, shack no. 9

O-sushi. Stealing its name and concept from London, O-sushi is a slick conveyer-belt sushi bar with an L-shaped table. Different coloured plates indicate the prices of sushi that whiz by you. Rather delicious and a perfect lunch-stop downtown. IÐA, second floor,
