Icelanders celebrated the new year in style with fireworks lighting up the sky all around the country. The average family spends hundreds of dollars on fireworks this time around to say goodby to the old year and welcoming the new. Buying fireworks is legal all over Iceland from December 28th with rescue teams and sports teams raising money by selling them to the public. People are advised to wear safety glasses to protect their eyes during the blowing up session. Andri Valgeirsson was among those who captured the madness in the capital, Reykjavik, on New Year's Eve.
